Blinds

“Blinds are considered as ‘hard window furnishings’ which are primarily made from synthetic materials. They can also include timber, PVC and aluminium. Blinds are sized to fit within the window frame (Inside Mount) or just outside on the architrave (Outside Mount). Blinds can transform your room and work as good insulation to maintain heat and cold.”

Blinds can be made from various block out, sheer or translucent fabrics depending on the requirements and need for functionality. To let in light and see outside, you need to raise the blinds using either a cord, roller, or lifting mechanism including a motor. As the blind lifts, it either bunches or rolls around a rod, depending on the blind’s style.

Blinds are usually a practical option. Blinds are also easy to maintain and clean due to the materials used and the way it is manufactured. They are sized to the window and custom-made to the window frame measurements. Blinds create a modern and sleek look as compared to curtains. Blinds also offer better light control due to their make in slats and rolls etc.

The choice of dressing a window with blinds or curtains will also depend on the location of the window e.g. a window in the kitchen or bathroom is better suited to have blinds due to ease of maintenance and use.
